They’ve survived the apocalypse. Now they’ve got to put up with each other.
Hell really is other people in this bleak comedy by Samuel Beckett,
often described as a master of the absurd. Hamm and his servant Clov are
trapped together in an apparently post-apocalyptic world where almost
everything outside has died.
How better than to while away time in petty squabbles and everyday routines and in driving each other mad?
Blind and chair-bound tyrant Hamm stares his own death in the face,
waiting every day for it to arrive. He despises Clov, but knows he can’t
survive without him – to be fed, talked to and be brought his
painkillers. Equally annoying are his elderly, dustbin-confined parents,
Nagg and Nell.
Should the ever-loyal Clov endure his endless
punishment? Or will he find the courage to carry out his threat of
leaving and venture into the empty world outside?
And…what’s that outside the window? Did something just move?
This one-act play will run without an interval. No latecommers can be admitted after the start of the performannce - so please arrive on time folks!
