Classic comedy of love, folly and mistaken identity
"What country, friends, is this?" "This is Illyria, lady."
A young woman is shipwrecked on an unfamiliar shore, her beloved brother lost to the waves and her dream of a new life across the sea crushed utterly.
In spite of her loss - or perhaps because of it - castaway Viola forges a new, male, identity and seeks to assimilate into the strange world of Illyria where lovelorn Duke Orsino strives to win the heart of grieving Countess Olivia. Meanwhile an alliance of hangers-on and servants plot against Olivia's overbearing and puritanical steward, Malvolio.
There will be happy endings for some, but not for all, in Shakespeare's bittersweet romantic comedy of mistaken identities.
