The Questors presentPygmalion
Bernard ShawSharp and provocative comedy
Egocentric Henry Higgins makes a bet that he can transform cockney flower-seller, Eliza Doolittle, into a woman as poised and well-spoken as a duchess. A Professor of Phonetics, he teaches her to assume a veneer of gentility, the most important element of which, he believes, is impeccable speech.
His ambition is that she mix with London's high society and make a fine marriage. But the sassy Eliza is more than a match for her tutor...
Pygmalion, one of Bernard Shaw's most popular plays, is a sharp and provocative satire of the rigid British class system of the day, and a commentary on women's independence.
The play was the inspiration for the musical My Fair Lady.
