The Questors Present

Hangmen

By Martin McDonagh

The Olivier Award winning, wickedly dark comedy

There is a bit more life in the air at the local Hangman’s family pub - and it’s not down to the quirky cronies at the bar. Today, hanging has been abolished. For good.

With Harry’s face plastered across the front pages, his status as second-best hangman and local celebrity continues to thrive. But  when a menacing young Londoner strolls up to the bar, something says he’s after more than a pint and a bag of peanuts…

Harry may have hung up the noose for good, but will he ever wash one man’s blood off his hands?

Written by Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Three Billboards) this wickedly funny satire fuses an undeniably dark tale with the mundanity of Northern pub life, undercut with McDonagh’s idiosyncratic humour. Set in 1960s Lancashire, this fast paced dark comedy will grip you until the bitter end.

Hangmen was ranked by The Times as one of the Top 25 Best Plays of 21st Century.

His love of language is why actors would kill to be in his plays" - David Morrisey on Martin McDonagh

"Tremendous, terrifying... fuelled with humour and horror" - The Guardian on Hangmen at the Royal Court

Suitable for ages 16+ due to swearing and violence. This play reflects the attitudes of the 1960s and contains language that some audiences may find offensive.

2 hours 15 minutes plus an interval
