Return to Granville, The Ugly Duckling (2000)
ABOUT THE PLAY

The scene is Braithwaite Farm. It is early morning, the sun is rising, the cock crows and Granville hatches out into a wonderful world of strange sights, sounds and farmyard smells! He soon realises that he is different from everybody else. He is twice as big as his brothers and sisters. They have beautiful bright yellow feathers, Granville's are dirty, dull and grey. Granville speaks with a different accent, he even has a different walk.

Granville is lonely. He is a very friendly duck but doesn't seem to have any friends. Nobody wants to play with him and all because he is different. The other farm animals bully him and call him names. Granville decides to run away and so the classic tale of the Ugly Duckling is brought to life through exciting live theatre.

This production tackles issues important to children's hearts such as bullying and racism and earlier productions of this play have been toured successfully to a number of schools throughout the Greater London area. Fast moving action with imaginative costumes, music, song and dance make it an enjoyable and memorable occasion for all.
