Reminiscence Theatre

Kenton Baptish Church

Can I develop stronger community links through Reminiscence Theatre?

Presented by Anne Gilmour, Tony Chapman and Jason Welsch

Suitable for: theatres who are looking for a new way to engage with their local community through reminiscence.

The session will touch on the story of Reminiscence Theatre at The Questors; the projects it has developed such as the Acton Laudries, Cycling, Allotments, Cinema; and the links it has developed with local history organisations.

This will be followed by an overivew of the development of a project: how we gathered information, recorded and transcribed memories and worked with writiers to develop a play. We will hear some short exceprts of memories.

The session will look at the developement of the four-actor Roadshows which are one-rehearsal (usually) 'performances' which go out to local groups on an amost monthly basis and take memories back into the community.

Finally Tony Chapman will take a closer look at our most recent project Home Is which took the Playback approach into a new direction. Before you come to the session, see our video on The Questors YouTube channel HERE.
