Chris is a full-time improviser, who has performed and taught all over the world. He has directed many theatrical improv shows and recently formed the Pretend Company for improv that’s as interested in stagecraft, storytelling and moving an audience, as it is in making them laugh.
In this workshop, we’ll look at all the ways your improv thrives when you stop trying to be the funniest or best improviser and instead lean into soft skills like vulnerability, support, listening and empathy.
We’ll look at:
- Playing heartfelt characters that reflect aspects of yourself
- Being affected by what’s happening in the moment
- Ways to support and elevate your scene partner
- Authenticity and truth in performance
You don’t have to be the funniest or smartest person on stage. Far better to be the most relatable.
This session will take place in the Emmet Room.
