
These Masterclasses are available for ages 14-18 (approx. School year 10-13) and open to young people who are interested in learning a new skill, developing their knowledge or simply looking to make new friends. You do not need to have an existing QYT Membership to sign up.
By inviting leading industry experts to deliver varied masterclasses, we aim to encourage and inspire young people to explore all aspects of the theatre entertainment industry. Whether you are looking to pursue a career in theatre or simply pick up a new hobby, these masterclasses are a great opportunity to gain more experience.
We aim to hold various masterclasses in different sections of the theatre world and there will be a minimum of 3 different areas covered each term. The types of masterclasses we aim to provide are:

This course is designed specifically for beginners and those who have an interest in set design. Alex has delivered this course for a wide variety of clients ranging from schools to colleges and, over a number of years, for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages project.
What will we cover in this masterclass?
In this 90-minute session we will briefly touch on a variety of topics including how a designer approaches a play, how scale works and an introduction to scale model making.
Please remember to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in!
Who teaches this masterclass?
Alex Marker is a critically acclaimed professional set and costume designer who has recently celebrated his 25th anniversary in the industry. Over that timeframe he has designed over 200 productions for a wide variety of venues including: West End, regional, touring, site specific and fringe. He has been nominated numerous times for the best set design category in the Off West End Awards and the Fringe Theatre Awards.

All masterclasses will take place on Sundays at 12:30pm until 2pm at The Questors Theatre, Ealing.

Please note that these are popular courses so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Booking goes through our box office system and therefore it will state 'book a ticket' and not 'book a place'.
